PROTECH 18’x 12’ CAR SHELTER

 

I have just bought a shelter to help with my storage problems – car doesn’t fit the garage, still too long for the car port etc. I saw this advertised on e-bay from a  company called  Protech Shelters in Somerset and thought I would give it a go. Other members may want to take a look at their range of shelters. This is a big one

 

                      

 

3 large heavy boxes were delivered very quickly and it took half an afternoon to construct the base and anchor it down with earth augers. It consists of  side rails and then 5 tube frames inserted into the welded base tubes. Other tubes and flat floor connectors are then added to fasten it all together. All metal is white coated and everything was present and correct – even a few spare bits! A tool is provided to fix the earth augers into the ground and this worked well. I only needed 12,14 and 17 mm spanners

 

We then waited until the next day, which turned out to have won the ‘windy day of the year’ prize to assemble the cover. 3 of us had great fun trying to remain on the ground as we first put on the ends with elastic straps and then coped with the huge but very strong cover. The whole thing is tensioned with nylon straps and some very robust clamps and the finished item works very well. The door is zipped, velcro’d and has 2 straps – looks easily up to the job. This particular shelter swallows my Z28 Camaro and the Riviera just gets in lengthwise with loads of room at the sides.

 

         

 

My only real criticism is of the rather vague and out of sync instructions which lead to the whole thing taking far longer to erect than they claim. Not a huge problem but worth mentioning.
